Neutering
Neutering, castration or spaying, is important to ensure health and safety of pets. We promote responsible pet ownership which includes neutering.
In case of cats neutering is advised as they reach 5 month age or have reached 2.5 kg body weight.
In case of both male and female dogs we recommend neutering after they reach 14-18 months age. However, under certain circumstances, for example where accidental mating can be a risk or display of excessive sexual behaviour may may cause concern, neutering can be performed from 7 moths age onward.
Whereas dogs can be castrated at any time when they have reached appropriate age, bitches are best spayed at three months after finishing their season, as this is the quietest time in a bitches reproductive cycle, which minimises potential complications during the surgical procedure.
In case you have concerns regarding neutering of your cat or dog, please feel free to give us a call and we will be happy to address any questions you may have.
